Junko Okabe
Head of Hat Atelier Simprin
Career in Hat Design: 18 years.
Career in Teaching hat-making: 10 years
Unfamiliar with handcrafts and sewing, entered Mr. Akio Hirata's (a leading hat designer in Japan) Hat Studio in1999, inspired by his book and hat creation.
Became a hat creator after graduating the studio, encouraged by Mr. Hirata that she will be successful if she continues the hard work.
Atelier Simprin History
- 2001-
- Start of sales. Sales were small in the first five years.
- 2006-
- Determined to be a professional hat creator, expands sales channel from 2006.
- 2008
- Lehman Brothers shock in 2008 resulted in deep drop of sales, which led to open atelier Simprin.
- 2010
- Hats introduced in magazine "Cotton Friend" summer edition in 2010.
- 2011.7
- Original hat book "Otona-boushi + Kodomo-boushi" published in July 2011 (Japan Vogue)
Hats and hat designs introduced in over 15 books and magazines. Magazines include 'Suteki-ni handmade'.
Main activity is based in atelier, open to everyone and anyone to enjoy making hats.
